About

Geography has a huge influence on not just where we live, but how we live: densely-packed in urban centers, or with plenty of elbow room in far-flung exurbs? In polluted and degraded environments, or in green and sustainable societies? Or for that matter, as a society or as a collection of individuals who happen to live near each other? Beyond the Cul De Sac is my outlet for writing about these (and other related) topics.

If you’re interested in who I am, well, here’s the short version: I’m a writer, geographer, GIS enthusiast and former professor living in Florida. At any given time I’m working on at least one book idea (my first book, a treatise on land use practices in certain environmentally sensitive landscapes, is available from Amazon.com). I have advanced degrees in both economics and geography / environmental science, and I’m available for consulting projects or freelance writing / GIS work.
